Grosse Pointe is a very special community that many people, including myself, love to live in and be a part of. So many generations of families have chosen Grosse Pointe as their home because it is known to be safe, beautiful and close-knit. Grosse Pointe is not just a place to live, it’s a place where families can grow and become successful.
An upside of living in Grosse Pointe is the feeling of safety and security the town provides. I always tend to feel safe and at ease as I’m walking down the street, no matter if it is day or night. Familiar faces almost always surround me, and I know that if I ever needed anything my neighbors would be there to help me out. It provides a sense of comfort that a bigger city could not provide.
Another thing in Grosse Pointe that people highly value and benefit from is the school system. Generations of my family alone have been sent through Grosse Pointe South and there has never been an issue with receiving a good education. Grosse Pointe Schools were even ranked 12 in the state by the U.S. News. The easy access of getting to and from school since Grosse Pointe is a walking district is also an upside for many families who have two working parents who cannot always take their children to and from school every day.
While some people criticize Grosse Pointe for being a bubble, and seeming to be disconnected from the real world, I disagree. I think we do live in a bubble but there is nothing wrong with that. Living in a bubble does not mean we are disconnected from the real world, it just means that we don’t spend every day actively interacting with it. However, we still are up to date with what is happening. Grosse Pointe is also right next to one of the United States’ most active cities, Detroit. Many residents of Grosse Pointe such as myself spend a lot of time in Detroit which most certainly is not a bubble.
Grosse Pointe’s close proximity to Detroit is a benefit of living in Grosse Pointe because we get to live in a small safe town and still get to experience city life and go to concerts and attend big sports games. My family has huge sports fans so we frequently go to Comerica Park and Ford Field along with many others from Grosse Pointe.
Along with all that Grosse Pointe also has to offer many great physical attributes such as being directly on the water and offering parks that we get to use just for being residents in Grosse Pointe. I have only ever heard of a few communities that get the privilege of having amazing beautiful parks that are open to the public free of charge. Grosse Pointe is a place where people can live for life and raise families.
