“Lucky” offers an assortment of iced and warm drinks and has specialty drinks each month. I decided to taste-test two of the specialty drinks for fall, and I have nothing but positive things to say. The first drink I tried was an iced Nutella mocha. This chocolatey drink was the perfect blend of a light roasted coffee and a sweet aftertaste. As someone who loves the taste of coffee, I was pleasantly surprised to still be able to taste the coffee despite the sweet Nutella. Comparing this drink to other places, I would say it did a very good job of not being overpowering with sweetness or bitterness.
The second drink I tried was to match the current fall season, the pumpkin spice latte. I have tried pumpkin spiced lattes at a variety of other coffee shops and typically am disappointed by this specific drink. However, at Luckys I finished this drink very quickly due to once again the perfect blend of coffee and pumpkin spice. The pumpkin spice was not overpowering, instead its taste didn’t come out fully until the aftertaste which made the drink very enjoyable.
Lastly, this shop has an array of bakery items in their front window and with this I was drawn to the raspberry danish. The friendly worker in a very timely manner warmed up my danish and served the delicious treat to me in a small bag. The danish was a tad bit messy but the taste made the mess worth it.
Overall, this shop is a great addition to the Grosse Pointe community and is a unique coffee shop with an aesthetic style for anyone to enjoy.
