This year, South was determined to come back with a win, and even more importantly, prepare themselves for the playoffs. The Blue Devils sent Roseville home defeated and emerged triumphant on Sept. 27. Captain Josh Lemanski ’25 said that this rivalry is even more intense than North vs. South.
“The momentum from being Roseville is undefeated, especially at this point in the season,” Lemanski said.
As fans filled the student section, the anticipation for the game was increasing. The Blue Devils in total scored five touchdowns, two of which were within the last five minutes of the game. Jack Lupo ’25, Lex Wilson ’25, James Michellotti ’25 and Adam Czarnik ’25 made big contributions to the team’s score, and the Blue Devils only let up 21 points. Head coach Chad Hepner said that there was more focus for this game, which showed when the offense had one of the best games of the year.
“Our defense came up with the big stops when we needed to, and we were able to win the special teams battle,” Hepner said. “So it was a pretty complete game from that perspective.”
The Blue Devils are undefeated on a five game winning streak. Beating Roseville not only gave the Blue Devils more experience against difficult competition but also gave them confidence leading into the playoff season, according to Hepner. Next up is beating that team over at Vernier.
“It sets us up for a lot of positive things down the road,” Hepner said. “But it certainly gives us some confidence knowing there’s a good chance we will see that Roseville team in the playoffs.”
