The Football Friday Night South v. North rivalry game ended exactly as South expected it to: in a 44-3 blowout that was so humiliating North fans were evacuating the stands at halftime.
“Since I am a senior and this is my last rivalry game, it fills me with lots of nostalgia, and I am sad that I will never get to see us beat North again,” Harvest Savage ’25 said.
There was frustration all around as both teams were fouled early on in the first quarter. Initially, an unprecedented victory for North seemed promising after a successful field goal put them three points in the lead, but South quickly regained control over the situation with three touchdowns. South has gone undefeated so far in the 2024-2025 season.
“Go to any South game at all. About halfway through the game, you can just go ahead and leave, because South absolutely carries and continues to dominate football forever,” Syri Ibekwe ’26 said.
The fourth quarter became a matter of how many more points South could squeeze in. Notable plays included a pass from quarterback Jack Lupo ’26 to wide receiver James Michelotti ’26, who scored a touchdown moments later, followed by another touchdown by Lupo himself.
“Considering the fact that we’re already undefeated this season, watching us crush our rival, especially since it’s my last year watching a rivalry game, it’s a really good feeling knowing that we’re doing this good,” Alex Cline ’25 said.
