During their spirit day, the sophomores presented their spirit pack gear, outdoor banner and rock design. Grace Geresy ’27 expressed her love for spirit day and the good vibes it brings for the rest of the week.
“In my opinion I think we’re gonna have the best rock and banner,” Geresy said. “We are sweeping the rock, banner and float. I also think we have the most unique and best theme.”
The construction of each float, banner, and other spirit day items occur at float parties managed by each class’s student council. Sophomore Class President Helen Haindl ’27 is responsible for delegating tasks and managing priorities at float parties. She values spirit day for all of the hard work her class puts into it and for the unified feeling it brings.
“At first our progress was slow and then we started moving quickly,” Haindl said. “We just try to get as much done as we can each time. We do a good job of keeping it going and constantly moving.”
Arguably the most important part of spirit day is the class unity aspect of it. Former Vice President Lucas Curtis ’27 is happy with the progress his class has made at float parties this far.
“I like how spirit day bonds the class together and makes us feel more energized together,” Curtis said. “The banner is really good. I know that people put a lot of hard work into that and I’m really appreciative of everyone.”
