On Sept. 30, students from the junior class gathered at South in celebration of their homecoming spirit day. This year, the Class of 2026s’ theme is “Jaws Juniors,” which is inspired by the movie. Members of the class council worked on creating posters and banners and painting the rock for this event, including Erin Simpson ’26.
“I really like the theme. I think it’s fun to do a movie. Last year we did a movie too, and I think that it’s easy to connect with it because everyone knows it and knows what to dress like,” Simpson said. “I showed up to spirit day because I think it’s fun to do with my friends. I like getting pictures and being in the yearbook and connecting with the community.”
The group met at 8:15 a.m. for a group picture in front of the school with their class banner hanging from Cleminson Hall. Shortly afterward, the class ran through the halls of the main building in celebration. Finally, the Mother’s Club provided a complimentary breakfast for the class.
Various staff members participated by wearing beach themed clothing or the class spirit-pack t-shirt. Nicole Westfall has been the advisor for the Class of ’26 for the past two years and has worked closely with the group to produce the event.
“We’ve worked hard to produce all of the posters and banners for today, and I’m really proud of the group,” Westfall said. “I’m most excited for Friday and to show off our float. I think we’ve done an outstanding job on it this year.”
