When we ordered the latte, the owner mentioned that it wasn’t made with typical syrups, but rather a fresh in-house brew. When my brother and I tried it, the drink did have a very rich flavor and while it wasn’t as sweet as a Starbucks might be, the drink made up for it in warmth and general chocolatey-ness. The iced latte also had ample flavor and was a pleasant surprise since I thought the coffee flavor might be stronger than I prefer, but it wasn’t and made a refreshing pair to the sandwiches, which were the star of my show. Named ‘The Beast’, ‘The Pret’, and ‘The Long Beach’, the three sandwiches were all distinctly unique and delicious. My ranking would be Long Beach, Pret, and Beast, with Long Beach’s combination of brie, turkey, and pesto aioli pushing it over the top. The Pret, which contains cheese, fig marmalade, tomato, onion, and arugula, tasted like a garden inside and felt so fresh biting into it. The Beast had an interesting combination of chickpea pesto, red onion, and avocado which blends well together in your mouth, and all three sandwiches are presented on toasted loaves of bread. They are light and tasty and complete the experience.
I hadn’t known what to expect since the opening of this store had gone undetected by me but I hope this review encourages others to stop by and try the delectable creations of someone with a passion.
