Having a grad party is better then going on a trip

As a sister to an upcoming graduate, me and my family discussed this idea a lot. Should my brother go on a trip, or should we have a party here so he can say all his goodbyes and enjoy the last couple of days here? We recently decided that we are going to have a grad party. We saw that it would give my brother a great opportunity to see his loved ones one last time and save a lot of money due to the expenses of going out of state, not to mention it also saves a great amount of time.

With having a grad party, he won’t have to worry about when he’s going to go on this trip, when he’s coming back, and if he will have enough time to figure everything out for college—especially when it comes to going out of state. College can vary from $10,000 to even $60,000per year, which is a lot of money. It could be cheaper to have a grad party and save some extra money towards the things you need for college. With all this being said, I think it’s better if most seniors have grad parties instead of going on a trip. If you go on a trip, you won’t have all your family and friends around you, even if you’re staying in state. Having a grad party is so much more fun anyways, so I think everyone should consider it.

Fallone recommends joining Tower for the experiences and lessons it provides, including field trips to places like Boston, where she attended a journalism conference. She is excited to attend more events in the future. “I’ve heard we might go to New York or Philadelphia for the journalism conferences,” Fallone said. “People think that since this is an English class all we do is write for the paper. It's not just writing, there are a lot of fun opportunities as well.”

Sofia Boddy ’25, Business Manager

Stemming from a passion for writing along with her strongly opinionated persona, Sofia Boddy ’25 truly feels at home in Tower. Her passion for Tower has carried her through 2 years of thorough journalism. She has used the Tower as a resource to present her ideas to the public without hesitation. "Tower has always been a great setting for me because it is specifically designed to let students speak their minds freely without stigma" Boddy '25 said. With the high responsibility that comes along with being a Tower staffer and business manager, it is also important to unwind. Boddy does this by playing Tennis, doing pilates, and listening to music. "Exercising and listening to music are my two favorite activities to relax," Boddy said. As her last year as a Tower staffer commences, Boddy hopes that the work she has done will make people think and help the publication. "I'm kind of sad my Tower experience is coming to an end after this school year," Boddy said. "But I'm confident this year will be a good one to end on."
