As the end of April nears, South, along with other high schools around the country, are preparing for the annual event, Charity Week. During Charity Week, student associations and governments get together to raise money for an organization of their choice. This year, North and South’s student associations are teaming up, with help from Student Association Advisor Meg Pierce, to raise money for Gilda’s Club, an organization that supports families dealing with cancer.
“The community comes together to raise money for a good cause,” Pierce said. “Some schools get a lot of attention from (Charity Week), but ours doesn’t get as much recognition. I’m hoping that’s something we can change this year. The more people that get involved, the more help we can give to (Gilda’s Club).”
This time, Charity Week lands on Apr. 22 through 25. On top of the community fundraiser, South students like Lauren Euper ’26 want to contribute to the event by supporting and getting involved in activities throughout the week.
“I remember some of the activities from last year and they were super fun,” Euper said. “It’s really easy to participate in the fundraiser and I think the charity we’re supporting this year sounds really nice.”
