“Bump set spike it. That’s the way we like it!’
The roar of the packed student section at the North versus South varsity girls volleyball game last night, echoed chants like this as South’s team swept North 3-0 in a best of five set.
South’s game plan going in was simple, “to win,” Lexi Kohut ‘17 said.
The players put in a lot of work going into this game and were really nervous about the outcome, according to Lillian Fannon ‘17.
“It was huge. The fact that we just beat North in our first game is pretty exciting,” Kohut said.
The student section along with the players’ attitudes fueled the game. At one point, the cheering was so overwhelming, a North player asked the referee to wait until it got quiet to begin serving.
According to Kohut, the girls are ready to take on the rest of their season. With a big home game next week against Anchor Bay, they will find out soon if they really are.
