The Grosse Pointe South Choir will take the spotlight at Comerica Park as they perform the national anthem before a Detroit Tigers game on Monday, May 12. Choir director Carolyn Gross announced this exciting opportunity to the students in mid-April. One student, Daniel Doles ’26, shared his enthusiasm for the event.
“I’m thrilled to know that I’m going to be able to sing with my friends at a Tigers game,” Doles said. “We get to sit and watch the game after our performance, so I think that made me even more excited.”
Although singing in front of a large audience could be nerve-wrecking, Doles expresses how he is not nervous to perform.
“This is my first year in choir, but I’m not that worried about performing, ” Doles said. “I think that singing in front of such a large group will help our choir become more known locally in other places than just Grosse Pointe.”
Lastly, Doles added that the experience would motivate him on an otherwise normal weekday.
“[Singing at the Tigers game] Will be a fun end to a mostly boring Monday,” Doles said.
