A bittersweet goodbye

The hardest part about growing up is change. Life is forever changing around us, whether we like it or not. For me, the hardest part about growing up is changing schools. From Richard Elementary to Brownell Middle School, and Brownell to South. These changes struck me deep down and created a lump in my throat thinking about leaving my memories behind.

If I had known everything that would happen within my time at South, I would have been eager to leave middle school and jump into my time as a high schooler. Not only did I learn important skills and material in the classroom, I learned how to be a good person and became who I am today.

Today, even as I look out the window at the sunny sky and warm weather, I desperately do not want to say goodbye to this chapter. Everyday I stepped foot into the hallways and walked out the doors at 3:05 p.m., and it changed me for the better.

I want to thank Grosse Pointe South for the endless memories that will last a lifetime. All of my accomplishments, friendships and plans for the future can be attributed to my time as a Blue Devil.

I am thankful that I have something that makes saying goodbye so very hard. I will forever cherish my four fulfilling years at GPS.
