Learning healthy habits related to diet, routine and relationships is crucial for high school students.
According to health education teacher Nicole Westfall, this is one of the main lessons she teaches.
“I like teaching healthy habits and life skills that you can take once you leave that class and use in the future,” Westfall said.
According to Westfall, learning coping mechanisms is important, but just knowing the skill isn’t good enough. Her goal is to make the skill to be utilized easily.
“We’re learning about illegal drugs,” Westfall said. “We know the dangers obviously, but we have healthy habits to say no.We need to see what makes us say yes or no.”
