New choir director Vince Matia had his first day at South on Monday, Sept. 27, marking the start of his sixth year of teaching.
Matia attended Baldwin Wallace University in Berea, Ohio, where he received his degree in music education. He worked at Walsh Jesuit High School, his alma mater, after he graduated before deciding to come to South to find more opportunities.
“I really like show choir,” Matia said. “I did teach show choir at my old job, but this is even more show choir. And really, that’s why I wanted to come here.”
