As a final wrap-up for the 2020-2021 school year, South’s orchestra is performing in an outdoor concert.
According to orchestra teacher James Gross, the concert will be on Thursday, June 3 at 6:30 p.m. on South’s front lawn.
“Preparation for this concert has been different because it’s a culmination of remote, hybrid and face-to-face learning from the beginning of the year,” Gross said.
Although it’s not necessarily a new tradition, this outdoor concert was put in place to allow for an audience during a time of COVID-19-related restrictions. Gross said that this concert is taking the place of the spring concert that has been indoors in past years.
“I’m most excited that this will be our first concert in 15 months,” Gross said. “The last band concert was in February 2020.”
The concert will consist of three senior solos. According to Gross, Anna Johnson, Maria Maraldo and Charlotte Parent, all ’21, will be playing solos to make for an outstanding performance.
“Students and parents are excited to be able to perform and attend a concert once again because it’s been too long,” Gross said.
