Getting inked

Students and teachers share their experiences getting a tattoo

Tattoos are symbolic and important part of many people’s way of expressing themselves. Teachers and students decided to share the meaning behind their special ink.

Teacher, Dennis Pascoe shares the special meaning behind his only tattoo.

“It’s a Dylan Thomas quote and it’s about a son talking to his father, telling him to keep fighting and living. Both of my son’s names are under the quote, so when I get really busy and caught up in things, I remember my sons are always with me. It’s one of my favorite quotes, it’s on the plaque at South and it’s been with me since high school,” Pascoe said.

Teacher Troy Hernandez has a symbolic tattoo on the inside of his forearm.

“It seemed like a good idea at the time. I got the angel on my back when I was 18 and the cross a couple years later, and both are for religious reasons. I always wanted one when I was younger and I wanted them to mean something,” science teacher, Troy Hernandez said.

Chandler Duff’s ’18 tattoo is simple on her little finger.

“My tattoo is my horoscope symbol, so a Taurus. I was interested in reading my horoscope, so it was perfect. I was unsure if I wanted to get it, but I just went and got it and I’m happy about it,” student, Chandlar Duff ’18 said.
