Bloom into spring for the 40th annual flower sale

The Grosse Pointe Beautification Commission held their 40th annual flower sale at the Grosse Pointe Woods police station on Friday, May 12 and Saturday May 13, according to member of the Beautification Commission.

The flower sale is an event that brings families together and allows people to buy flowers for their mothers because it is always the weekend of Mother’s Day.

“It (the flower sale) has always been the weekend of Mother’s Day which helps with the sales,” Member Debby said.

According to her, the event not only benefits families but also the proceeds go towards the awards night for the beautification award.

“This is sponsored by the beautification commission for Grosse Pointe Woods, and it is a fundraiser for events that we do mainly the beautification award,” she said.

The flower sale is an event that makes Mother’s Day more memorable, she said.

“It supports the community, we have a wonderful variety of flowers and garden assortments to choose from for your mothers and grandmothers,” she said. “It’s a great community event.”
