South vs. North playoff preview

Grosse Pointe South Varsity football team looks for revenge after their loss to rival Grosse Pointe North earlier in the year. On September 23, South lost to North at the annual match up 8-4.

When asked what was South looking to do different, Captain Andrew Sharp ‘17 said, “This time around we are keeping it simple and going back to what we do best. We are more focused on our assignments instead of our hype (energy)”.

South has had practice every day this week after school according to Sharp.

“This is probably one of the best weeks of practice we have had all season,” Sharp said, “Throughout the week we have showed up with the focus and intensity that we need to be ready for Friday. We have been running like a well oiled machine.”

The North vs. South football game is at South, unlike the last time these two teams have faced off.

When asked what he expects from North, Sharp said, “For the most part we know what to expect from these guys, but we have to be ready for the speed at which they do it. They don’t do a whole lot but they do it extremely well.”

South also will look out for the trick plays North’s coach Sombera has been known to throw out from time to time Sharp says.
