Yesterday, South’s varsity volleyball team proved victorious over rivals North in a sweep of three matches.

“I thought we played really well as a team,” Lexi Kohut ‘17 said, “In the first match we lost one of our best hitters.”

Chandlar Duff ‘18, suffered a shoulder injury in the first match and did not return to play.

“Having two players come off the bench was a big deal for the team,” Kohut said, “they played extremely well and helped the team come out with the victory.”

South won their first match 25-22, their second match 25-23 and the final with a score of 25-14.

Coming into the game, South looked to focus on aggressive serves as well as making their offense faster to beat their hometown rival, Kate Satterfield ‘17 said.

Two weeks earlier, South lost one of their better defensive players. Kate Satterfield was given the empty defensive position, where she fit in quite well, according to Kohut.

The playoffs start at the beginning of November with “one of the best offensive in the league” Kohut said.

South’s varsity volleyball team will take on Port Huron Northern at 6:30 p.m. on Oct.6 at their home court.
