The boys varsity lacrosse team won their first game in the playoffs this past Monday at home. The Blue Devils crushed the Comstock Park Panthers to a nice 16-5 final score.

The boys did not let the opposing team have a chance to get comfortable as the Blue Devils’ Will Buhl ‘17 scored the first goal within the first 30 seconds of the game.

“We knew coming into the game that the other team was not as skillful as us, yet we did not let that get to our mind and we only thought about winning this game no matter what,” Jay Ulbrich ‘17 said.

The Blue Devils ended the first quarter with a four goal lead with two goals by captain Michael Coyle ‘16 and another two goals by Buhl.

“It was good coming out of the beginning of the game with a decent lead like that,” Michael Lesha ‘17 said, “but in playoffs anything can happen and that’s why we needed to keep our foot on the pedal.”

The first half of the game had the same tempo, with goals by Michael French ‘17, Buhl ,Ulbrich and Graham Ryan ‘16 that left the Blue Devils with a 12-1 lead.

“We came out here knowing what we had to do in order for us to keep on playing with our teammates around us and we did just that,” Ulbrich said.

Throughout the second part of the game the Comstock Park Panthers did not want to be shut out as they put up five more goals. Yet the Blue Devils remained with the upper hand with the 16-5 final score.

“At the end of the day I am just glad that I get to hang out with the guys on the field for a couple of more days,” Lesha said.
