The girls hockey team defeated Plymouth Canton High school Tuesday by a score of 4-1. Goals were scored by Lauren Kramer, Erin Brannagan, Maria Di Cresce, and Solana Bryson all ‘18.

The team holds a 5-1 record so far this year with wins over rivals Grosse Pointe North and Liggett.

“We have done really well with working hard on and off the ice, trying to stay more conditioned than other teams in the league.” Shannon McKenna ‘17 said.

This year’s team is led by goaltender Bella Strickler and Gennie Martin both ‘16, Carson Dennis ‘17, and Lauren Kramer ‘18.

“The captains do a great job of leading our team, we succeed with them, and they are friendly.” McKenna said.

The team has been successful over the last few years always having a good record and making a run for the State Championship. Last year the girls team won the state title, beating Liggett 2-1 in the championship.

“It is important that we keep working well as a team, but also our individual skills so we can be focused and ready to play the best when the state tournament comes around.” McKenna said.
