A return to a classic blockbuster adventure, “JurassicPark 3D” is just as thrilling twenty years later as it was back in 1993. The Steven Spielberg summer box office classic remains an enjoyable romp through a dinosaur filled habitat.

For the unaware, “Jurassic Park 3D” is based on the story of by Michael Crichton of when a billionaire and his scientists begin to play god by extracting DNA of dinosaurs from ancient mosquitoes that have been preserved in amber. The main characters are a group of archeologists and two children who become stuck on the island with all of the recreated dinosaurs.

The movie has been updated to be both in 3D and HD and the animatronics and early CGI-rendered dinosaurs’ look and feel even realer than before. Seeing the movie in IMAX is also recommended, being truly immersed in a world were dinosaurs roam free is a treat.

Nothing significant to the classic tale of what happens when man goes too far has been changed; the characters still have their one-liners, the raptors are just as scary and the action is still good for a few thrills.

In fact, the movie may be scarier today than upon the original release date, the update has made an already engaging tale for all ages that much more involving as dinosaurs seemingly reach out to the audience.

This is not to say that it ever becomes too gimmicky, the 3D is used quite tastefully and it really is an improvement over the original version. The animators did a top-notch job and it should really be commended because of how easy it would have been to make a pretty tasteless movie.

Everything that was great about the old film remains intact, and with the new 3D technology, “Jurassic Park 3D” is either a welcome trip down memory lane or a good point to jump into this classic experience. An “A.”
