Sadie’s is just around the corner which means all the girls out there need to work on finding the perfect date. This unique dance reverses the traditional roles so that now all the pressure is on the girls to ask guys to the dance. Working up the courage to ask a guy can be tough, but with these simple steps any girl can find the right man to accompany them on Saturday, March 31st to the dance in the main gym. Tickets will be sold in the main hallway for $10 each all next week.

1. Choose your man.

To find your ideal date, searching on Facebook is a must. Online stalking is the best way to learn about every aspect of your victim’s life. However, if your smart phone dies, you may have to switch to the old fashioned method of stalking. Pull out last year’s yearbook, and find the guys with the most potential, circling their pictures with a heart. You may even want to make a list of the top 10 guys, so you can keep track of all your possible targets.

2. Pass him in the hallway

Although you may feel like you know your potential guy already from Facebook creeping, it is time to talk in person. Running into your crush in the hallway gives you the perfect opportunity to go in for the kill, I mean, start a conversation with him. He gets bonus points if he picks up your books that you accidentally threw all over the hallway, but avoid giving him your phone number just yet. If possible, locate his locker and alter your route between classes so you have maximum time passing him at his locker.

3. Get on the inside

To have your crush notice your presence every day, befriend his buddies. You need the inside scoop on everything your guy does; from his daily after school activities, to his favorite foods, find out as much as possible. Confronting his friends one on one is the most effective way to learn about your crush. Do not forget to ask them about your target guy’s car type, address, sleeping schedule, and anything else you find relevant. I would still hold back from asking his friends for his number though, you don’t want to sound too creepy.

4. Text him

Finally, you can snatch his number. Find it on Facebook or just steal it off his best friend’s phone; that way you don’t have to actually ask him for it. Texting is key because it takes awkward confrontations out of the equation. Whether you text him a question about math homework or you “accidentally” send him a text that was mean for another friend, either way works. Remember to add lots of winky 😉 faces, so he knows you are interested in him.

5. Have a real conversation

I know this is a big step. Take a deep breath, give yourself a few squirts of your favorite perfume so he will be able to smell you from down the hallway, and go for it! Skip the small talk about the weather or academics and let him know right away that you want to see more of him.

6. Ask him to the dance

Finally, the hardest part of the operation has arrived: asking your victim to Sadie’s. It is preferable to ask him in a big, showy way without humiliating him. Stuff his locker with balloons, cover his car in sticky notes, or hire a mariachi band to serenade him during tutorial; you have a creative license here! If you are struggling to come up with an original idea, you may have to just ask him straightforward, honestly.

Do not be afraid of putting your emotions out in the open where they could be crushed. What is the worst that can happen? If you follow these six simple steps, no guy could ever deny you. Besides, if he turns out to be a jerk and say no, just move on to the next guy on your list, someone will say yes eventually!
