Q: When did the lacrosse season start and how often does the team practice?
A: The season started in early March and we have already played six games. It has been lots of fun. As far as the practices go, we practice four days a week.
Q: How many games will you play this year and who will be your best competition?
A: We will probably play around 15 games, it just depends if we win late in the playoffs. Our best competition this year will be L’anse Creuse North. They seem to be pretty solid every year and they will be good this season too.
Q: How many lacrosse teams does South have?
A: There is a JV team, varsity B team and a varsity A team. We all play separate seasons and never practice together. We are all separate teams essentially.
Q: What would you say to someone who wants to play lacrosse for South that doesn’t know what it’s like?
A: I would say that it’s a really fun and new experience. You make new friends that will stick with you for the rest of high school while staying in shape. It’s not that hard to learn and once you get the hang of it, it is really fun. Anyone who wants to play lacrosse definitely should give it a try.
Q: When are the playoffs and how are they structured?
A: Playoffs end around June and are super exciting. As far as structure goes, it is a one and done type of deal; super thrilling.
Q: What are your team goals this year?
A: We want to win the state championship of course. It will definitely be hard with all the players we lost from last year but everyone on the team this year is ready for redemption. We aren’t as skilled as last year in my opinion but I really feel like this is our year.
Q: Who will be some of the key players this year?
A: We have a lot of good players this year but Jamey Daley, our goalie, is going to lead us all year. Against some of the better teams, he will need him to bail us out especially in the playoffs if we want a chance to win.
