Boys varsity hockey finished with a victory over Divine Child this Thursday with a score of 3-0.

Adam Pitters ‘17 had the only goal in first period to break up the score and put the Blue Devils ahead.

“This game was a well needed win. After the struggle against Country Day, I was glad that I was able to help my team to a deserved victory.” Pitters said.

Neither team saw a goal in the second, as junior goalie, Dante Valente ‘17, stopped all shots that came his way.

“Dante played an awesome game today, he was able to make all stops that were necessary for the win. There is nothing else you can ask of a goalie.” Andrew Vyletel ‘19 said.

Third period followed with a shot from rookie defender, Adam Cervone ‘17, that met the back of the net to put South up 2-0 and gave Cervone his first goal as a Blue Devil.

“It was a great experience scoring my first goal, the atmosphere in the arena was incredible and I was so happy that I was a part of my team winning.” Cervone said.

Pitters was able to seal the win with an empty net goal to end the game with a final score of 3-0.

The boys are on the road tomorrow night as they travel to play Wyandotte at 6:45.

“If all of our players focus on what they need to do to succeed, we will come out on top,” Cervone said.
