Football defeats Utica to continue winning streak

Michael French | Staff Writer

Varsity football pounded Utica High School Friday night with a final score of 30-0. South was dominant and a lot was moving in the right direction that evening. The Blue Devils defense was solid with a shutout performance.

“Tonight we were on our game, Goose Egg D stopping an All-State running back. We’re going in hard to next week and hoping to make a run into the playoffs,” linebacker Will Poplawski ‘16 said.

The offense also proved impressive Friday night putting up 30 points for South. Junior quarterback Logan Mico ‘17 threw for 144 yards and three touchdowns to three different receivers.

Connor Brannagan ‘17 had his first touchdown of his varsity career and shared his excitement about his performance.

“It was like no other feeling, I thought we are playing really well and I’m proud that I could help my team to a win.” Brannagan said.

South takes on Utica Henry Ford next Friday on the road hoping to continue their winning streak.
