AIM assembly will promote unity, acceptance, respect

Margaret Brennan ‘13| Staff Writer

The all school AIM (All in Movement) assembly that was originally scheduled for Friday, Feb. 15th has been rescheduled for tomorrow Tuesday, March 26.The date was changed due to a scheduling conflict with guest speaker Reggie Dabbs. The students involved decided to pull the plug until all parties involved can attend to avoid compromising the assembly’s effectiveness, said Assistant Principal Terry Flint.

“The date change had the possibility to lose some of the AIMs momentum, but we weren’t prepared to sacrifice the integrity of the assembly’s message by switching speakers. In the long run the switch will be better for the students, for the staff and for the whole school,” said Max Roeske’ 13 AIM co-founder.

The AIM movement’s main goals are unity, acceptance, and respect.  A group of 20 students were selected at the beginning of the school year to discuss the school tolerance climate. The students then decided to make a survey regarding such matters. The results of this survey are what in turn prompted the assembly, Flint said.
