Playing for the Wounded Warrior Project, the South boys Varsity Soccer team will be hosting North to help fundraise for veterans and their families at the South field on Monday, Oct. 8 at 7 p.m., Coach Steffan Harris said.
“Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) serves military service members who incurred service-connected wounds, injuries, or illnesses on or after Sept. 11, 2001 and their families,” according to www.woundedwarriorproject.org.
Both teams will be wearing camouflaged uniforms and anybody wearing South soccer spirit wear will gain free admittance into the game, Harris said. There is also still the possibility of a fly over from the United States Air Force.
“This or a game for breast cancer is done every year,” said Captain Alex Detwiler ’13. “Each player on North and South will be playing for a particular veteran and will have that veteran’s name on their jersey.”
Veterans will be in attendance at the game and anyone planning to come watch the before game presentation and ceremony should arrive at 6:15 p.m., Harris said.
